She walked in

And all eyes were on her.

They saw her eyes,

but didn’t see the tears that had taught them to sparkle.

They saw her smile,

but didn’t see the pain that had forged it.

They admired the grace with which she walked,

But didn’t see how many times she had fallen.

They all saw her,

But none of them saw her.

Seasons changed,

Her hair grew longer,

The surface which she showed the world,

Melded into her skin.

Then one day,

A shaft of light,

Cut through the armor,

And shone onto her skin.

Hidden for so long,

She didn’t even know it existed.

She held her breath, waiting for the light to fade.

But day by day, second by second,

It only grew brighter.

The invisible girl,

Was no more.
